RESTORATION AND EXTENSION OF AN OLD COTTON MILL IN CORMANO
An old Cotton Mill in the Cormano suburb becomes a building entirely dedicated to children.
Outdoor spaces for playing, inner spaces for educational activities, a library, a theatre and a toy museum, as well as workshops spaces related to them.
Different functions all included inside an outstanding envelope, in which the new volume and the careful renovation of the existing building are clearly visible.
The restoration intervention has been conceived with the aim of preserving the pre-existing structure and limiting at most the alterations, while the new, the extension, is interpreted as expression of contemporary architecture.
